THIS MONTH'S HAPPENINGS

April 28th, 10:00 am Yantic River Cleanup. Meet at the commuter parking lot at exit 23 from Rte 2. Bring your own gloves, chapter will provide trash bags.

May 15th, 6:00 pm Board of Directors meeting before the membership meeting

May 15th, 7:30 pm Membership meeting at the Moose Lodge. Neal Hagstrom, a biologist with DEEP Inland Fisheries, will provide us with updates for the culverts assessment project and fisheries here in Eastern Connecticut.

May 20th, 3:00 pm Girl's Night Out. All women in TU, friends of TU members and female anglers across the state of Connecticut, let’s get together and fish! We’ll meet at Matthies Grove at People’s State Forest in the parking lot near the pavilion , break into smaller groups and fish until dark. Then we’ll grab a bite to eat at Michael Angelo’s in New Hartford. Hopefully the weather will be nice enough for a glass of wine on the patio overlooking the river!

FUTURE EVENTS

June 10th, 6:00 am Girl's Day Out. All women in TU, friends of TU members and female anglers across the state of Connecticut, let’s get together and fish! We’ll meet in the parking lot at the covered bridge off Route 16 in Colchester, break into smaller groups and fish the morning away! Then we’ll regroup for a riverside Brunch.

September 18th, 7:30 pm Membership meeting at Nickerson Campground. Jason Vacoun is Associate Professor of Fisheries and Wildlife Conservation for the UCONN Department of Natural Resources and Environment. He will be speaking about their work and study of stream size relative to the size of trout populations. Membership meeting will be held at the Nickerson Campground in Chaplin. Come early and fish the Natchaug River. Grab a hamburger and/or hotdog right off the grill before the meeting.

October 16th, 7:30 pm Membership meeting at the Moose Lodge. Ben Bilello will present Fishing for Broodstock Atlantic Salmon Using Traditional Methods. He will provide great photos, handouts, fly patterns and talk about his upcoming book. Ben's presentation was well received by the Farmington Chapter last year. We are fortunate to have Ben present here in Eastern Connecticut this year so don't miss this one. Meeting will be back at the Moose Lodge in Bozrah.

November 10th, 7:30 pm Annual Holiday Party. Please mark this date on your calendar and tell your family and friends to join us at the Moose Lodge in Bozrah for great food, raffles, awards and fellowship.

December 18th, 7:30 pm Membership meeting at the Moose Lodge. Bill Keister will be presenting "Do It Yourself Chili" - how to plan your own fly fishing trip to Chili.

Membership meetings are held at the Bozrah Moose Lodge at 115 Fitchville Road. This is just south of exit 24 from Route 2. If you are coming from the east on Route 2 take exit 24 and turn left at the bottom of the ramp and go under Route 2. The Moose Lodge is on the left just past the eastbound entrance ramp. Coming from the west on Route 2 you take exit 23. At the stop sign at the bottom of the ramp take a right onto Route 163 and follow it a short ways to Fitchville Rd. Turn right onto Fitchville Rd and go about 1-1/2 miles until you cross under Route 2 at exit 24. Moose is on the left just past Route 2.
