SLIDE SHOWS 2021
TVTU Participates in 8 Mile Riverfest 2021
TVTU participated at the 8 Mile Riverfest on October 16th. In nice fall weather, TVTU had a demonstration of fly tying which garnered quite a few spectators. A fly casting demonstration and some actual casting lessons were provided. The number of visitors to the chapter table was very encouraging and interest in membership was prevalent. See the slide show!

Ledyard Library/TVTU Fly Casting Class OCT 2nd
It was a gorgeous day for Thames Valley TU Chapter 282 to hold a casting clinic for the Ledyard Bill Library. We had a good turnout of 13 students and it was nice to see women and children among the group. This was a free and fun outside workshop, and all equipment and refreshment was provided. Basic elements of fly casting provided were: the roll cast, back cast, forward cast, false casting, shooting/extending a cast and safety. And a bit of fun exercise putting it all together by catching a "trout" at the end of the class. There were many volunteers on hand to help participants with the basics of fly casting. They were Mike Carl, Bob Davis, Bob Walsh, Charley McCaughtry, Jim Valuckus, Gary Lussier, Pat Gaynor (photographer) and John Preston (instructor). |

Our First "In Person" Meeting Since the Covid
Turnout was not what we are used to (21 participants) but for a start it was not to bad. Hopefully, when other members see others participating they will be encouraged to attend. Bill Keister had a nice presentation on one of his trips to the Alaska West fishing camp on the Kanektok River in Alaska and the variety and the number of fish in that area. Also had some great raffle items and the door prize was a gift certificate to the Fish Connection. |

TVTU FISHING/COOKOUT
As a result of the pandemic, TVTU canceled the annual fishing/campout at the Konnow Fish camp. In lieu of that event TVTU held a afternoon fishing and cookout on June 5th at the Konnow camp. This was a no mask but common sense social distancing event and the turnout was great. The weather was a little on the hot side (understated) and the fishing was not the best but it was a great social event. Best of all, Duke and Jen Preston provided a nice cookout. |
